Highly regarded around the world, Petzl manufacturers a specialty line of products for the rope descent, rope access, at height technician. Petzl products are most commonly seen in use on the most intricate and complicated commercial high-rise buildings around the world.

The Petzl line is always oriented around the safety and efficient of the suspended technician. Every product is configured with a focus on innovatively helping the worker to be as efficient as possible. One of the ways Petzl is always at the front of relevancy in the evolving high rise equipment market is the team staff and team of the Petzl company.

For 50 years, Petzl has been built around four pillars, four fundamental values that motivate every decision we make: remaining a stable family business, encouraging innovation to imagine the best solutions, insisting on industrial excellence with the goal of zero defects, and remaining engaged with our communities by providing global best practices.

Their website states, “We are Petzl. This is how we see the world. We are committed to creating safer places. For those who work and play in the vertical and dark worlds. For those who want to access their own inaccessible every day. We are independent and completely free to choose our own endeavors. To maintain industrial excellence, paying attention to our impact. To be pioneers in the pursuit of perpetual innovation. Sharing, education, building. Together.”

From time to time, Detroit Sponge is able to host one of their experienced staff members for an in-house product day at our facility in Michigan. Recently, the High-Rise window cleaning professional contractor have found more and more of the products from Petzl to be helpful in gaining access to high rise commercial glass. During the recent product day at Detroit Sponge, we had the honor of hosting Scott Backes. He highlighted 4 items that window cleaners found to be very useful in their equipment packages.

These products were the comfortable and versatile Petzl’s Avao full body harness, the adjustable variable I’D descender, the truly self trailing A’SAP rope grab, and the comfortably light weight helmets.

Our team at Detroit Sponge prides themselves on building strong relationships with manufacturers like Petzl. We hope to continue our relationship and offer more classes and demonstrations in the future.

Petzl products are tested to comply with ANSI standards yet continue to be engineered to be light weight and compact when compared to some other products on the market. As the Petzl team member explained during his talk, “More efficient use of the window cleaner’s energy allows the worker to go home at night with less fatigue, increasing their overall quality of life.”

There is little doubt that Petzl’s gear will be found in the equipment lockers of more window cleaners every year. Check out Petzel products at Detroit Sponge in the warehouse or on our website.
